I first noticed him outside the Venice Biennale in 2017. He walked ahead of me carrying nothing, laughing with another guy, free of jetlag and self-consciousness. He wore gym clothes and droopy socks. More Berlin than Venice. So began my obsession with one particular actor in Anne Imhof’s Golden Lion-winning “Faust,” a five-hour performance, dance, and installation where I found him again, performing.

I followed Him, and photographed Him. He looked back just often enough. We met later on Scruff, a gay hook-up app, but never in real life. This book collects my pictures of Him and the performance with text about desire, Adidas, and art.
